Researcher · Consultant · Speaker
I work with universities, organisations, and media to make sense of the social dynamics of technology — from platform behaviour and online communities to data protection, surveillance, and the everyday politics of being seen online.
I'm Louise — a researcher and consultant focused on the cultural and ethical dimensions of digital life. My work asks how platforms, data systems, and online communities are reshaping public discourse, identity, and the boundaries of personal privacy.
I partner with universities and professional institutions to study the evolving digital culture landscape, and I advise organisations navigating the practical and reputational questions that come with operating in it. I write, present, and teach on these themes regularly, and I take particular interest in how policy, design, and everyday user behaviour collide in real-world contexts.
Outside of formal research, I write a regular Substack on technology, culture, and the slow work of taking privacy seriously.
How platforms shape public discourse, identity, aesthetics, and the social norms of participating in digital life — including the role of subcultures, creators, and algorithmic visibility.
The everyday and structural dimensions of privacy — from data protection and consent to surveillance practices, AI-driven inference, and the cultural meaning of being watched.
How emerging technologies — from generative AI to platform governance — interact with policy, institutions, and public life across different cultural contexts.
Comparative work on how digital culture differs across regions, with attention to globalisation, language, and the uneven distribution of digital power.
Helping teams think through the cultural, ethical, and privacy implications of new products, policies, or communications — from initial framing to stakeholder engagement.
Bespoke qualitative research, landscape reviews, and written reports on digital culture, platform behaviour, and privacy-related questions specific to your sector.
Keynotes, panels, and tailored workshops for academic, corporate, and policy audiences. Recent themes include privacy literacy, AI governance, and platform culture.
